After updating to iOS 11, many users have been complaining that GarageBand crashes immediately upon launch or doesn’t open at all. This is a very frustrating problem for those of you who are a frequent user of the app. Luckily, Apple has already acknowledged the issue and “is investigating solutions.”
- Sep 20, 2018 Hello Apple community! I've purchased iPad 4th gen. Along with GarageBand a few years ago and used it happily to create sketches ever since. Recently I updated to iOS 10.3.3 (latest version available for my device) and backed up my huge song collection on an iCloud plan I purchased.
- Jan 24, 2019 One is to open up the Files app, navigate to the On My iPad GarageBand folder, and share from there, however you like. Or you can share from within GarageBand itself, like.
- When you first launch GarageBand for iPad you see an Instruments screen where you swipe through a variety of options including Keyboard, Drums, Smart Drums, Smart Bass, Smart Keyboard, Smart Guitar, Guitar Amp, Audio Recorder, and Sampler. Keyboard and Drums are instruments similar to their real-world counterparts.

How to Fix GarageBand Crash Issues in iOS 11
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone and tap on your name at the top.
Step 2: Go to iCloud.
How To Use Garageband Ipad
Step 3: Under the section labeled Apps Using iCloud, find GarageBand and toggle it off.
You should now be able to launch GarageBand without the app crashing. Since you toggled off iCloud for this app, you won’t be able to access any GarageBand songs saved in your iCloud Drive and all the new songs that you create will be saved locally on your device rather than on the cloud. Until Apple fixes this issue, this seems to be the only solution to get GarageBand back to work. It doesn’t seem like the issue has been fixed in iOS 11.1 beta 3 that was released earlier this week. Apple could also release an update for GarageBand to fix the issue.
We’ll update you as soon as Apple pushes an update to fix this problem.
